Data to Adapt a Collaborative Intervening at the Intersection of Poverty and the Legal System
The need:
Being poor can lead to legal issues and having legal issues can lead to poverty. The Justice Sector Constellation is a Collective Impact Initiative that has been working to intervene at the intersection of poverty and the legal system in Alberta since 2013. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the collaborative lost their core funding and started to question its capacity and sustainability. The collaborative needed help to determine if and how they could move forward.
What we did:
We quickly assessed opportunities and threats with the collaborative’s capacity and sustainability to help inform their future directions and decision-making. Collaborative members and secondary partners were invited to participate in an online survey and semi-structured interviews. Our work helped the collaborative to rapidly pivot their operations, structure and strategic directions in response to the challenges they were facing.
